It’s resolution season and all around the world people are setting goals and making a plan for the upcoming year. Even if you have already made your own 2020 resolution, I have a charge for you. Add resolve to the list of goals and move it to the top.
The word resolution comes from the Latin word resolutio and the English word resolve, which means determination or firmness of purpose. That’s exactly what I want you to take into the new decade.
No matter if your goal is to lose weight, get healthier, or run a 5k, resolve is the best tool to get you there. Obstacles won’t stop you, you’ll just go around. You’re determined.
Here are 3 tips to help you stay firm on your path:
Write It Down
I want you to write your goals down. Start with the big ones, then break those down into smaller ones along the way. From there, have a plan for each month, then week, then day.
It seems like a lot but it’s worth it. A good planner is going to really help with this. I’m using the Passion Planner for 2020.
Not just anyone. Tell someone your resolution who cares about you achieving it. Your supervisor at work that wants you to succeed. Your spouse who wants to run that race with you. A friendly CrossFit coach that is going to be just as excited when you fit in “those jeans” again!
Don’t Be Too Hard On Yourself
It won’t be easy. It’s not supposed to be. There will be slip up’s along the way. There’s no use in being too hard on yourself. Admit you messed up. Make a plan to get back on course. Move forward.
